Attention High School Seniors, Apply For Blue Path Today.




Who Is Eligible to Apply

  • Current high school seniors on track to graduate by May
  • Must be age 18 before – May 31
  • Must have valid driver’s license by Blue Path class start date – June
  • Must desire to serve Memphis community, and exhibit good character
  • Must be a US citizen and a resident of Shelby County
  • Must have submitted TN Promise application by deadline
  • Must be free of felony convictions and drug use.
  • Have a minimum 2.0 GPA

How to Apply

  1. Complete a mandatory informational session
  2. Complete TN Promise Requirements <<< by Nov 1
  3. Submit proof of TN Promise scholarship acceptance
  4. File the 2020-2021 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  5. Complete application online
  6. Attend an optional 1.5 mile practice run
  7. Attend the MPD scheduled battery of test

Once employed by MPD, then what?

– In June, you’ll be employed as a Police Service Technician (PST) trainee earning $33,529.60 per year.

– Complete a 7-week training course with the MPD Training Academy, earning credit hours toward an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Southwest Tennessee Community College.
– In August, begin PST duties ranging from controlling and directing traffic to reporting criminal behavior while completing coursework toward an Associate Degree (tuition-free) to transition to Police Recruit.

Graduate to the Best In Blue!

Once you complete your Associate Degree, and are within 4 months of age 21, you will complete the remaining 17 weeks of MPD’s Training Academy to become a police officer, earning a $41,802.80 (per year) training salary.
